You Are Responsible For Your Own Happiness

That’s right. You. Nobody else. Not your girlfriend, not your boss, not the commercial accoutrements you choose to garb yourself in, not even your family. You are the only person who can give yourself any lasting happiness in life.

You can do this by building yourself into someone you are proud of being, someone who can walk down the street with their head held high when you reflect back on all that you have accomplished in life.

You might get fired, your girlfriend may leave you, you may become estranged from your family, but no-one can ever take away the person who you are.

And the sooner you realise this – the sooner you stop looking for happiness from external sources, and you stop sucking value from everything around you – is the sooner you start giving it back, to everyone and everything around you. Once you are a value giver and not a taker, people will be drawn to you, and the positivity you radiate from the core of your being.

So instead of moaning about how unfair life is, why not look in the mirror and ask yourself “What have I done today to make myself happy? What worthwhile steps towards accomplishing something positive in my life have I taken?”

It all starts with a single step.
